In 2003 I was fortunate enough to spend 5 months living and working in the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. Bhutan is an incredibly beautiful, fascinating country that is little known and often misunderstood in the west. This website is an attempt to share my experiences and explain some more about this wonderful country with which I fell unashamedly in love. Though these are my own opinions, I'd like to thank John Weiss, Penny Richards, Isabel Hutcheon and Austin Hutcheon for providing me with digital photographs from our treks, some of which have appeared on this site. Etelka Leadey and Diane Wyse Jackson at BGCI were instrumental in setting up my voluntary work placement in the UK, while Sangay Dema and Dr. Ugyen Tsewang were willing to take me on in the Botanic Garden and Biodiversity Centre in Bhutan. I'd also like to thank all the Bhutanese and expatriates I met in my time there for their welcome and company. Tashi Delek. Chris Watt |
